be the greatest music band of history. Not only their music, but also their
style established the main trend of their time. Their variety of registers,
lyrics structures and innovative ways of presenting their music have
influenced almost every pop or rock band throughout the years. Although there
are a lot of compilations of well-known Beatles’ songs, another one, called ‘Love’,
has been recently released. The Big
Question is: What does it make this new compilation to be special?
You are going to work on a magazine
report due to the release of the new Beatles’ compilation ‘Love’.
To create
this report you will collaborate in a 4 students’ group. Each one of you will
choose a role and will research about several interesting aspects of the band
including: ·

Musical perspective ·
Relevant anecdotes
FIRST PART: in groups of 4 1. You must form a group of 4 and assign each role: a music journalist,
a Beatles’ fan, George Martin (producer of The Beatles) and Paul McCartney
(the most famous living Beatle). 2. If you have any
previous knowledge about the band, it is time to talk about it, in order to make a general draft. 3. Several resources selected for each role
are available for you to use. 4. Follow
the instructions and do the tasks for each of the roles JOURNALIST You have to investigate on the
biography of The Beatles, not only the general history of the group but also of

You are a fan from the beginning, so
you must provide information related to the discography of the band as well
as explain your favourite album (Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band).

You are a very relevant part of the
Beatles’ history, thus you have to tell the story from your personal point of

You are the former producer of the
band, and now the man in charge of this new compilation. You need to look for
information about this project, the reasons of the release and some commentaries

you have researched in order to create the report. It should blend all the
information taking into account the order of a report of such
characteristics. First, the general picture of the band should be presented,
followed by the most particular information. You should not forget to make it
not only well organised but also interesting enough for the readers of that
magazine. Your report will be evaluated in group
by your teacher, it means that all of you have to work hard to get a good
mark. Content, visual presentation and
grammatical and spelling correctness will be also evaluated. Your final performance will be
evaluated by the teachers and the rest of your classmates.
After having completed the report, you will have
acquired a better knowledge of one of the greatest band in history,The
Beatles, focusing not only on the general facts, but also on some
particularities about their history and musical career, having as a reference

This
Webquest has been designed for students of Secondary Education of English as
a Foreign Language -
The
required level is intermediate or advance intermediate. It could work better
with students in Bachillerato (16, 17 years old). -
The
objectives are to develop students’ knowledge about musical history, in
particular, the history of The Beatles. -
From a
linguistic point of view, students will benefit from reading extensively in
English and will have to put into practice other skills such as summarizing,
writing a report, etc. -
It can be
carried out in class (3 or 4 sessions to guide them through the process) and
as part of their homework.
